Patty Spivot was briefly linked to Barry Allen in "The Flash" Season 2 before she had to transfer to Midway City to pursue her training with the CSI. Their brief romance was adored by fans, especially since both Barry and Patty share a lot in common. Will the character make a comeback in "The Flash" Season 3?
Actress Shantel VanSanten teased that there's a good chance Patty will return to Central City and reunite with Barry in "The Flash" Season 3. Speaking to Monkeys Fighting Robots, VanSanten said, "There's a very strong possibility if everything works out."
Although Patty played a minor role in "The Flash" TV series, the character actually had a more expanded role and a bigger influence in Barry's life in the comic books.
If Patty were going to return to "The Flash" Season 3, and given the whole "Flashpoint" event, how would the character fit in?
In the "Flashpoint" storyline, Patty actually takes on the role of Hot Pursuit after stealing his gear from the Central City Police Department evidence locker. While riding Hot Pursuit's Cosmic Motorcycle, the bike detected a timestorm and activated an emergency chronal-evacuation, which then transported her to year 3011.
In year 3011, Patty was captured by Brainiac and put in a hibernation chamber, where she was forced to relive her worst memory. During her captivity, she helps Kid Flash escape from Brainiac, and she was later killed by Brainiac himself.
It has been confirmed that Kid Flash, a.k.a. Wally West, is going to make an appearance in "The Flash" Season 3. According to The Mary Sue, the latest trailer for "The Flash" Season 3 even shows Flash teaming up with Kid Flash.
Going back to Patty's involvement in "Flashpoint," it is possible that her death in the alternate timeline could be one of the many reasons why Barry is forced to revert back to the original timeline - the one where his mom is dead and he is The Flash.
Barry has a lot of intensive decision-making to do in "The Flash" Season 3, and it won't be easy for him and for everyone around him.
"The Flash" Seasons 3 premieres Oct. 4 on The CW.
