Doctor Doom continues his journey to redemption as he faces his new destiny in "Infamous Iron Man #1." The former villain turns a new leaf as he becomes the Infamous Iron Man himself.
Victor Von Doom, who is one of Marvel's most notorious villains, is taking on a new identity as he shifts from bad to good. It's not every day that a villain decides to become a hero, but Doctor Doom is taking it all in great stride.
His taking on the Iron Man mantle is part of the major changes being made on Tony Stark's story in the comic books. In July this year, Marvel revealed that a new character, 15-year-old Riri Williams, is suiting up as the new Iron Man.
"We're in the middle of a very big Tony Stark storyline - actually three storylines converging. His best friend died, his company is collapsing and he's finding out who his biological parents were all at the same time," Marvel writer Brian Michael Bendis told TIME.
While Riri Williams will have her own suit as Iron Heart, Doctor Doom will also have an outfit change. He is trading his usual metal armor and green cloak for something more similar to Tony Stark's Iron Man suit.
Doctor Doom's intention to become a hero was first seen in "Invincible Iron Man," where he offered to help Tony Stark. The latter accepted the offer, although he remained skeptical.
According to Screen Rant, the synopsis to "Infamous Iron Man" reads: "There is a new Iron Man in town and his name is VICTOR VON DOOM. The greatest villain of the Marvel Universe will try something new. Where Tony Stark failed, Doom will succeed. What is Doom's Master Plan?"
"Infamous Iron Man" is created by Bendis and Alex Maleev. The first issue will be launched with several variants. As per the official preview, the issue will feature Doom's former council, which included Loki, White Queen, The Hood and Namor.
Is Doctor Doom really making the change for good? Or is this just part and parcel of his evil plans? "Infamous Iron Man #1" is on sale Oct. 19.
