The highly-anticipated comeback of the 2013 action-filled survival horror video game "The Last of Us" has been creating clamor to avid fans online. Despite Naughty Dog's silence on the issue, agitated supporters have been speculating that there will be a sequel soon, introducing new sets of characters and possibly embracing the LGBT community.
"The Last of Us" was originally published by Sony Computer Entertainment and was released in June 2013 for PlayStation 3. Players of the game controls Joel, a man assigned to bring the female protagonist Ellie across a post-apocalyptic place; however, their journey is jam-packed with action as they encounter hostile humans and cannibalistic creatures infected by a certain virus.
Third person players can use various weapons and artilleries to defeat the enemies. Because of this game's capacity to accommodate multiple players, and gradually developing stories of Joel and Ellie, players are hooked as they join the characters in their journey.
It even became one of the best-selling PS3 games with more than 1.3 million units sold in its pilot week, according to Forbes. But the well-adored game might probably introduce new characters and storyline for its sequel, based on reports. Will the two characters be on the sideline this time or will love win this time?
Rumor has it that the game's creative director Neil Druckmann said that the LGBT community will be represented by a new character, who will then be a vital addition to the existing ones. However, according to some sources, the sequel is being purposely delayed as they work on the new Intellectual Property (IP) policies. There are also prior reports that Naughty Dog is preparing "The Last of Us 2" for the innovated and more advanced consoles by 2021.
Since the official developers and distributors have yet to announce anything final, the sequel-hungry fans can only hope for the best.
