Ford Motor Company has announced a hiring plan for 3000 salaried employees. 85-90% of the jobs will be in Michigan, to aid the recovery of Detroit, which has recently been in the spotlight due to its radical plan for bankruptcy.
The 3000 jobs announced will be going alongside previous plans to create 12000 part time positions in the U.S. by 2015. 2400 of the salaried positions will be filled by technical professionals who are needed for new skills.
"Engineers and technical professionals are in as much demand as our cars, trucks and SUVs. Global demand and increasing capacity in North America and Asia requires that we aggressively seek out technical professionals in order to continue our growth," says Felicia Fields, Vice President of Human Resources at Ford.
As a proof of their capabilities to hire in expansion, Ford had hired 1,850 salaried workers last year. As of Jul 23, 2013, Ford has reached 75% of their promise of 12000 hourly positions in the U.S. by 2015.
To accomplish their goal of hiring, the company has took to new tactics. Three major social sites will be used by the company to create relationships with the career seekers and bring them closer to the company.
"The type of talent we want at Ford are often searching for and evaluating potential employers on social media sites, so expanding our recruiting efforts on these channels ensures we have a strong presence throughout their selection process," says Fields.
