It was just last month when "Narcos" Season 2 ended, wherein it showed the demise of its lead character Pablo Escobar. Now, since Wagner Moura's Pablo is dead, reports are loud that the upcoming season of the hit crime and drug series will feature a new story arc - showcasing the Cali Cartel and the return of Los Pepes.
It can be remembered that the Cali Cartel was shown in "Narcos" Season 2, and because Escobar's story arc is done, the introduction of Cali Cartel make sense. With this, "Narcos" Season 3 will not forward on the story of the infamous Medellin Cartel, instead, it will center to the rise of the Cali Cartel in Colombia's drug trade.
In an interview with the show's executive producer Eric Newman by Hollywood Reporter, it was revealed that Cali Cartel played a significant role in pinning down Pablo Escobar, and added that they just did it so they can rise as the "highest drug traders in Colombia at the time."
When Newman was asked on how he feels in replacing Pablo Escobar's story arc, he mentioned that they are not replacing him, instead, they are only looking deeper into the effects of cocaine and corruption within Colombia.
Meanwhile, aside from the Cali Cartel, "Narcos" Season 3's storyline will show fans how the government system works. It is said that the upcoming season will reveal how government officials acquire money and power through corruption, News Everyday has learned.
Although additional details about "Narcos" Season 3's plot is scarce, one thing is for sure though - the upcoming season will not only focus on one character. With that said, fans should expect the return of Los Pepes in "Narcos" Season 3.
According to HNGN, Los Pepes return in "Narcos" Season 3 is highly likely, as its role in the previous season was very vital in pinning down Pablo Escobar and the Medellin Cartel. If this is to be believed, Los Pepes' return will mark the continuation of hunting down of the most notorious drug cartels.
As of this writing, there's no official announcement yet on "Narcos" Season 3's air date.
