Diablo 4 is rumored to be the works, and fans of the hack and slash genre might get the official announcement at BlizzCon.
It has been two years now since fans have gotten to play the third installment in the Diablo lore. The game was a smashing success both financially and critically. Except for some game server hiccups, the game was regarded as a fitting successor to the Diablo franchise.
When BlizzCon 2016 comes around on November 4, one of the major announcement that is rumored to be made is a new Diablo game. The buzz started when a Diablo inspired four sided die from a BlizzCon promo pack contained a four and two ones, which got the internet guessing as a reference that the date of the BlizzCon will announce Diablo 4.
Another incident which added fuel to the fire is David Brevik who was project lead on the development of the second installment of the Diablo games. He tweeted an unlikely plot of the Libra star sign and wrote:
"For 20 years, Diablo-like games have evolved and surprised us. I'm proud to be the adviser for the game that pushes the genre to new heights."
These signs of a new Diablo games have since been debunked. Well, sort of, the die in question was just said to be a misprint and just wanted to tell the date of the event. But quite honestly, a four-sided die with the date of the BlizzCon was bound to raise a few eyebrows.
As for the tweet of Brevik, he has since doused some water on that fire by following it up with a tweet that says that he is not working on any Diablo related content now or in the near future.
But fans have to admit that it is quite weird seeing alums of the old Diablo game hovering around Blizzard Studios with an upcoming major event in a month's time.
Until BlizzCon November 4, fans will just have to hold their breath and hang on to the hope of a Diablo 4 or at least an HD remake of one of the early Diablo games.
