You've got to give Mattingly Romanin a hand for his sense of humor after a skydiver hits the player on the head and to the ground, unable to swerve away from Romanin who was told to stand still.
Though Romanin was trained to catch flying objects from the sky, he was not told to look out for this fastball. The three skydivers were originally assigned to perform the first pitch for the game, but one of them could not land in an empty spot or warn the player he was going to hit.
"They told us not to move and [the skydivers] won't hit us... guess not," the baseball star who suffered cuts and bruises joked on twitter after the event.
In an alternate tweet, he said, "I feel like I got kicked in the face yesterday, oh wait..."
The skydiver had walked away without getting hurt, but there was one death due to the event: 'Now only if my Oakleys had survived too,' Romanin spoke of his sunglasses that had been destroyed in the crash and tumble to the ground.
The Prospect League match is not the only match with memorable video-worthy moments in the past few weeks. Carly Rae Jepsen threw probably the worst first pitch ever in history. A few days before that, Shin Soo-Ji, a South Korean Olympics Gymnast, set the world on fire after she threw a perfect pitch whilst twisting and turning her whole body in an unforgettable illusion.
