Warcraft world's take on a competitive online card game, Hearthstone, gets a tournament style make-over on next week's upcoming Tavern Brawl with a promise of golden legendaries for those who will come out triumphant. Every week, Hearthstone introduces different variations of the game in a mini game called Tavern Brawl. This coming Tavern Brawl features a simulation of a Tournament Mode, promising players with several prices, including golden legendary cards.
Instead of the usual free to play Tavern Brawl, the upcoming version entitled Heroic Brawl, requires participants to have an entrance fee to the event amounting to 1000 in-game gold or $9.99. Players compete in the Tavern Brawl with their chosen standard deck and race to get 12 wins against other opponents. What if you can't get that win streak? Rest assured, the game provides a safety net for players who can't get all 12 wins. Players who end up with zero wins still get 1 card pack. But the mechanic is crafted to entice competitive players as the prices scale with every win you get. 1 win under your belt gets you 2 card packs, 2 wins get you 3, and so on. On top of the card packs, players also get dust as well as gold which also scales.
The best players who get all the way to a win streak of 10 and above will be the most to benefit from the tournament as the prices are skewed towards these players. On the tenth win, players start to win the promised legendaries, scaling up to the 12th. Players who get all the way to have 12 wins under their belt gets the most compared to everyone else as they win 3 legendaries, 1100 gold, 1100 dust and a whopping 50 card packs. Yes, 3 golden legendaries and 50 card packs for $9.99, not bad at all.
A warning though for all players. Similar to Arena matches, another mini-game in the Hearthstone app, 3 losses will end your career in the Heroic Brawl! Clearly, the tournament is not meant for the faint-hearted and will reward competitive players. Unlike the free card pack of the weekly Tavern Brawls though, Heroic Brawl offers packs from the most recent expansion, Whispers of the Old Gods.
