With less than a month away from the actual game, Nintendo and Gamefreak, the company that created the Pokemon console game, released the official Pokemon Sun and Moon demo game. Pokemon Sun and Moon is to be the 7th generation installation of the Pokemon series, featuring over a 100 new Pokemon and a fresh storyline.
The demo was intended to showcase the new in-game features of Pokemon Sun and Moon, as well as updated graphics and a few of the new generation's never before seen Pokemon. In the demo, players were able to battle with the new Ash-Greninja, the unique water starter from the 6th generation, as the companion for the protagonist. But fans got more than what they expected as mainstream social media sites like Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr got flooded with leaked photos of all of the generation's new Pokemon thanks to the work of data miners.
The leak showed 7th generation Pokemon that haven't been revealed in teasers or in the official Pokemon site. Though most of them remain nameless, the in-game sprites are now all over social media, either ruining the game for people who refuse to bite to spoilers, or blowing the minds of those itching to know more.
Aside from new Pokemon, data miners also revealed the shiny version of the Pokemon, as well as new Alolan versions of well-loved Pokemon from the first generation. One of the biggest reveal from the leak were the complete sprites of the starter Pokemon's final evolutions, confirming the leak of drawings that claimed to be the final evolutions which circulated online a few months back. As to how Gamefreak plans on dealing with the leak, so far it would seem impossible to control as the photos have already spread online like wildfire. The official Pokemon Sun and Moon game is set for release on November 18, 2016.
