Western Digital Launches Two External Hard Drives in India

Western Digital, a US-based company engaged in data storage, has a strong presence in India which prompted the company to launch two products at a recent event in New Delhi. The new products, both solid state drives consumer models, are the newly redesigned My Book and the My Passport external hard drives.

At the launching My Book is priced at Rs 13,050 while My Passport with 1 terabyte capacity is pegged at the price of Rs 7,980. Western Digital (WD) assured the public that these products, along with their product lines, will be made available to the general public in all their WD outlets and digital retail stores. Both products are of high quality with glossy, smooth surfaces and have textured bases with sharp distinct edges.

Their designs were corroborated with Yves Behar, a famed digital device designer who founded the fuseproject, the company that contrived the branding and external form of the product. Both products feature security features like hardware encryption and password protection.

My Passport hard disc external drive comes in 5 color choices of white, black, red orange and blue. My Book is unique as it comes only in black and is compatible with Apple Time machines.

My Book and My Passport offers cloud storage and are covered by a two-year guarantee, features that make them attractive to budget-conscious buyers.

Consumers can choose what rated capacities of My Passport to buy starting from 1 terabyte (TB), 2 terabyte, and 4 Terabyte , which are priced respectively at Rs 7,980, Rs11,910 and Rs 17,140.

My Book comes with rated capacities of 3 TB, 4TB, 6 TB, and 8TB and priced at Rs 13,050, Rs 16,479, Rs 26,600 and Rs 29,500.
