Well, on second thought, it might be better to spare yourself a trip to the ER.
The salsa recall pertain to those who purchased Wild Chunky Salsa and Medium Chunky Salsa at dollar stores across the United States.
Olam Tomato Processors, Inc., a company based on Fresno, California, has heard reports of large glass pieces that were found in some of the jars of Mild Chunky Salsa with expiration dates of June 2015 and October 2015. Those who have purchased Medium Chunky Salsa that expires on July 2015 should also return their items.
Roxan Janka, spokeswoman for the mexican sauce manufacturer, says that at the beginning of the assembly line, some glass jars were shattered, and the pieces have fallen into the remaining jars. After the salsa was filled up, it was difficult to be spotted by the human eye, and the large pieces were not detectable by the mechanical sensors in the plant, as they were only designed to look for smaller glass pieces.
There has been no reports of injury due to the incident. The dollar stores that sold the product include Dollar Tree and Deal, Dollar Express, and Dollar Bills. The recall was announced Tuesday.
Production codes for the salsa recall are L12142, L04093, and L01313. The distributor is Greenbrier International, Inc. Food and Drug Administration and California Department of Public Health are aware of the problems and aiding in the process of the recall.
The salsa company's press release states that no other products are affected by the incident, however, Jobs & Hire urges readers to take caution and make sure not to serve your salsa with glass pieces.
