George R.R. Martin To Make A ‘Game Of Thrones,’ ‘WestWorld’ Crossover; Author Pitched Idea To Showrunners

HBO's latest sci-fi fantasy "Westworld" has been compared to "Game of Thrones" since its inception and for good reason. Both shows are well crafted and sport great actors that it would be hard not to praise them.

But a recent report has fans even more pumped as George R.R. Martin, author of the "Game of Thrones" book actually pitched the idea of a crossover with "WestWorld."

Entertainment Weekly quoted "Westworld" creator Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy as saying:

"We love George and our daughter's first trip anywhere in the world was out to Santa Fe for a screening of The Prestige at his theater, the Jean Cocteau," Nolan says. "He's a lovely guy and a stunning writer and it's flattering he would encourage a crossover. We should be so lucky."

However, Joy doused some water to the gossip flames by saying:

"I need to believe that dragons are real," she says. "I want them to be a real thing. So as much as I love George, I can't lose that for myself!"

Well, there goes that idea. However, having this show being two completely separate things might not exactly be a bad thing. "Game of Thrones" is already entering the twilight of its run while "Westworld" is still enjoying its breakout season. Having a crossover would risk having a blemish on "Game of Thrones" impeccable run, on the other hand, it might make "Westworld" lose its fast momentum. The show is reported to be watched by over 12 million viewers in its debut episode.

Quite honestly, the truth is that maybe George R.R Martin might just be joking when he pitched the idea to Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. The author has been known to have a very good sense of humor based on his social media feeds.

So for now, fans should just keep on dreaming of a world filled with dragons and robot cowboys.
