Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens left fans both in awe and in anticipation for the mysteries that piled up with the introduction of new characters. Thankfully, recent updates may give us the hint we need to give our fan theories the boost we need.
One of the biggest mysteries in the end of The Force Awakens is lineage and back story of the new protagonist, Rey. In the ending scene of the last movie, we find out that Rey finally meets the master Jedi Luke Skywalker. Because of this scene, speculations elevated into uncontrollable levels in trying to figure out, who really is the bad-ass that is Rey?
An interview with Daisy Ridley by Vulture gives hints on the direction of her character Rey. When Ridley was asked about the possibility that Rey is related to Obi-Wan Kenobi, she gives both a vague but leading answer. Ridley replies in saying that fans will have to wait a year to find out, and to sit tight on the question. The answer was a safe one, given that the follow-up movie, the untitled Star Wars Episode 8, is scheduled to drop in about a year from now in 2017. What can be speculated from Ridley's response though is the hint that the mystery on Rey's back story may finally be revealed with the next instalment of the Star Wars series.
On more Star Wars news, it appears that episode 8 will be introducing a new Stormtrooper in the line-up. Finn, one of the new main protagonists introduced in The Force Awakens alongside Rey, had a much-loved fight scene with a Stormtrooper. Episode 8 may expand that hype with Finn facing the new Stormtrooper known as The Executioner. This new Stormtrooper will have a distinguishable helmet with half of it coated in a black matte design. Better watch out for this fight when episode 8 drops December 2017.
