Gerard Butler is back in the third sequel of "Fallen" movie series, "Angel Has Fallen." The new sequel is the third series of "Fallen" franchise which has initially filmed the first two parts "Olympus Has Fallen" and London Has Fallen".
The Scottish heartthrob will re-star his role in the third sequel as, Mike Banning, who is a Secret Service agent that protects the American president. The movie will run with the attackers plans to take down half of Washington D.C. But in this sequel, he will be the target. Along with him as a target is a commander-in-chief. Also, one of the targets is the President whose official plane Air Force One has codenamed Angel, Deadline reported.
Butler will co-produce the threequel of the movie, together with Alan Siegel, Mark Gil, John Thompson and Matt O'Toole. Executive producers are Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, and Christine Otal. Although the director that will lead the shooting has not yet named. Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt are writing the script.
Millenium Films will launch the threequel at the America Film Market in Santa Monica next week, and will surely be another hottest box office hit to await base on the first sequels. The movie will begin filming in the second quarter of 2017.
"Olympus Has Fallen," was directed by Antoine Fuqua, which generated $160 million in 2013 hitting as worldwide box office in the year. This year's "London Has Fallen" grossed more than $195 million globally.
Butler has been known for his Hollywood stunts, but the star recently confirmed his career almost ended earlier on stage during the production of Shakespeare's 'Coriolanus.'
He said: "We were supposed to be these revolting citizens so [the director] puts us all together and he gives us the script... it's very physical theater, so they wanted 12 guys running.
"Run, turn, say the line, run, turn, say the line.
"I thought I'd lost my eye, and then I had a black eye probably for two weeks."
Butler will appear next in the upcoming sci-fi thriller "Geostorm" and is repped by CAA.
