Chris Evans took a break fighting aliens as Captain America, to create a heart-warming film called Gifted.
Evans plays the role of Frank Adler, an ordinary blue-collared guy, who took care of his niece when his sister died. When he enrolled his niece on a regular school, he was informed by the school teacher that his niece is intellectually gifted.
Everything became complicated when Adler's mother wanted to became the legal guardian of the child. She even wanted to enroll the child to a program for intellectually gifted kids, AV Club reported.
This negates everything that Frank wants for his niece Mary. He said that he promised his sister that he will give his niece a normal life.
This is also where Evans met her current girlfriend comedian Jenny Slate. She plays Mary's teacher and Adler's love interest in the film.
E Online reported that Evans and Slate were an official couple in May. In Anna Faris' Unqualified podcast, the couple shared their first impression with each other. Slate admitted that he wonders how she can connect with Evans who is known to be Captain America.
She then admitted that after hanging out with the Marvel actor. She felt a connection with him and felt that she can hang out with him for 90 hours.
Evans said that it was odd and delightful to be able to connect with Slate. He said that he felt that they were the same animal even though he only met Slate for a few months.
Since then, their relationship grew and were walking on red carpets together as a couple. This is also thanks to their movie Gifted where they worked together.
Gifted is directed by Marc Web and will be released in April 12, 2017. It also stars Octavia Spencer, Lindsay Duncan and McKenna Grace.
