The finale of the highly popular Korean TV drama "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" has finally aired and it made a lot of fans shed a tear or two.
The show ended with a series of unexpected plot twists that took its fans for an emotional whirlwind ride. Here is a recap of what happened in the series finale.
"Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" Episode 20 Recap
The episode opened with Hae Soo (IU) and Prince Wang Jung (Ji Soo) together as a married couple. He tells Hae Soo that even though they are now married, they will still remain as friends but it is evident that Wang Jung had already developed feelings for her.
After a while, Wang Jung was starting to get frustrated with his sword practice and noticing this, Hae Soo came over to calm him down. Wang Jung sensed that one of Wang So's guards was watching them, he decided to put on a show of affection. Words reached Wang So about Hae Soo and Wang Jung's affection with each other, and this infuriated him. He decided not to hear anything else about the two.
Meanwhile, the doctor tells Hae Soo that she is pregnant. She knew that the child is Wang So's and this shocked Wang Jung. The doctor told her about the fragile situation of her pregnancy and that it might be harmful to her but she did not care about it.
A few months later, Hae Soo gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. The doctor warns Wang Jung about Hae Soo's health and it really bothered him. Hae Soo told him that she wanted to see Wang So before she passes and asked him a favor to give her letter to him. However, Wang Jung switched the outer layer of the letter with his handwriting and when Wang So saw the letter, he refused to read it not knowing it was from Hae Soo.
Hae Soo grew weaker each day but Wang So never arrived. She knew that it will never happen and that her time has finally come. It was too late when Wang So found out about Hae Soo's letter. Fast forward to the ending, Hae Soo woke up as the 21st-century woman, Go Ha Jin.
