The Hearthstone online community have been galvanized with the hints of a Gadgetzan themed expansion for the past few weeks, and Blizzard finally delivered their promise.
The latest expansion is entitled "Mean Streets of Gadgetzan", and it will be the fourth expansion for the game. The expansion is introducing a huge chunk of new mechanics and features.
As explained during the presentation at Blizzcon, the expansion will rotate around the groupings of three crime families: the Grimy Goons, the Jade Lotus and the Kabal. These three crime families control Gadgetzan in the shadows and underground, doing illicit trade, weapon smuggling and assassination at the side.
The new class cards that will be introduced will belong to specific crime families entering the Gadgetzan expansion. The classes Hunter, Paladin and Warrior will belong to the Grimy Goons. Druid, Rogue and Shaman will belong to the Jade Lotus. Kabal will cover the Mage, Priest and Warlock class cards.
For the first time in Hearthstone, the Gadgetzan expansion will introduce multi-class cards. The cards will be grouped according to the three crime families, and the multi-class cards will be usable for any of the three classes that belong to the crime family which the card belongs to.
Currently, there is no final release date for the Mean Streets of Gadgetzan, however if based on the schedule that Hearthstone championships are going to adjust, then we may get the expansion sooner than we expect within the year. For those who are looking to get an edge on the upcoming expansion, there is now an option to pre-purchase 50 packs for the Gadgetzan expansion for 50 USD.
The Blizzard Entertainment will keep the fans updated by releasing other trailers in installment from this week until December. While the Blizzard Contest still taking place in Anaheim, Canada, Hearthstone fans can start watching the livestreams for other possible announcements on the expansion release.
