The Bloodhound Gang, an American band ends up being investigated by the Russian Interior Ministry after the band's bass guitarist Jared Hasselhoff is seen stuffing a Russian flag in his trousers.
The case was opened Monday when the video of the stunt surfaced on the web angering many Russian nationalists. The Russian Interior Ministry said in a statement to the media that the stunt done in neighboring Ukraine will be looked into.
The video of the American band in their Ukraine performance shows Jared Hasselhoff on stage and tells the crowd, "Don't tell Putin" before stuffing the flag in his trousers.
Frontman Jimmy Pop reportedly criticized Hasselhoff immediately after the incident. Jimmy Pop is quoted saying, "Unfortunately, Russia is better than America. So, I disapprove of that, because America sucks like every ex-girlfriend I ever had."
The statement of Pop wasn't enough for a group of burly Russian men though. The Russian men stormed the VIP lounge of Moscow's airport and roughed up Bloodhound Gang's members before stamping on an American flag.
"I find the action of Bloodhound Gang disgusting," says Michael McFaul, the US Ambassador to Moscow on a tweet. "I also condemn the act of violence against them," he added.
It's not just the Russians who opened an investigation to though, the Ukrainian police also opened a case on Jared Hasselhoff Monday after a video showed the Bloodhound Gang member urinating on Ukraine's flag.
Bloodhound Gang couldn't be reached by the media to comment on the incident and there is no news of the injuries they sustained from the beating. The band began as a rap group called Bang Chamber 8 in the early 90s but later changed their genre and their name in favor of the PBS' 3-2-1 Contact 80s show.
Frontman Jimmy Pop and bass guitarist Hasselhoff both went to Temple University in Pennsylvania.
