'Blue Exorcist' Season 2 News, Updates: Todo Awakens The Impure King! Synopsis, Cast And Release Date Revealed

"Blue Exorcist" (Ao No Exorcist) is a supernatural-themed action anime based on the manga series written and illustrated by Kazue Katō. The first season aired in Spring 2011 and ended the same year with 25 episodes.

The story follows Rin Okumura, the heir of Satan in his quest to become the Paladin, known as the top ranking Exorcist. Rin aims to defeat his father, Satan who plans to possess his body to walk in the human realm.

In 2017, "Blue Exorcist" will be back with Season 2 and will feature the return of familiar characters and some new ones as well. The plot and arcs of the second season have been revealed in a leak. According to Crunchyroll, it was also confirmed that "Blue Exorcist" Season 2 will feature the Kyoto Impure King Arc! 

The synopsis of the second season will still follow the story of Rin Okumura and his exorcist friends in True Cross Academy. The mission is to protect the 'Right Eye of the Impure King' from being stolen by Todo, who has already obtained the 'Left Eye of the Impure King.'

The Right Eye is currently with the Myoda Sect and Rin will help protect them from Todo. It is said that when the two eyes are used together, the Impure king will be resurrected. The vile evil ruler who murdered thousands of people in the 19th century. 

Rin will also face a few social dilemmas since his friends' discover that he is in fact, the son of Satan. 

A-1 Pictures will still handle the animation of "Blue Exorcist" Season 2 but the directorship will be handed from Tensai Okamura to Koichi Hatsumi. As per Movie News Guide, the production team will consist of Hiroyuki Sawano and Kohta Yamamoto as the Composers. Character Design will be done by Keigo Sasaki and the scriptwriting by TOshiya Ono and Ryota Yamaguchi.

We certainly have a lot of great Animes lined up for 2017, including the confirmed "Blue Exorcist" Season 2. Hopefully, Anime fans will also get confirmation on other anime series for 2017, such as "One Punch Man" Season 2 and possibly "Attack on Titan" Season 2.
