The upcoming movie "Space Between Us" is a love story between two young people millions of miles in outer space apart. Gary Oldman plays the part of a space project director.
The director Peter Chelsom might have known that the movie will turn out to be a romantic adventure. The movie's plot calls for exciting action involving space travel action scenes between Earth and Mars.
One lover in Mars and another on Earth surely makes the love aspect more thrilling. Combine the love angle with the interplanetary space adventure and the result is a movie of epic proportions.
The "Space Between Us" story starts with the man's ambition to inhabit the red planet. Heading the Mars project is NASA director Nathaniel Shepherd, played by Gary Oldman.
In a trip to Mars, a woman astronaut was found to be pregnant and delivered her baby on the spaceship going to Mars. The baby boy has to remain in Mars since he cannot withstand the rigors and physical demands of the trip back to earth.
While growing up in Mars, the boy communicated constantly with Earth and found a chat mate on Earth named Tulsa (played By Britt Robertson). The grown-up boy now a teenager Gardner Eliott (played by Asa Butterfield) finally had the chance to travel to Earth and search for his unknown father.
The real adventure in the movie "Space Between Us" begins not on Mars but on Earth when Tulsa and Gardner start to explore the Earthly terrain together. Since they were already friends, being chat mates and all, it was just natural for them to fall in love.
The problem is that Gardner, having been born in Mars, cannot tolerate Earth's environment and started to weaken and possibly die. Coming to his rescue is the NASA director (Gary Oldman) who facilitates sending both Tulsa and Gardner back to space.
