"The Strain" is a popular vampiric-apocalypse horror drama series from FX and is returning to television in 2017. The last season of "The Strain" featured character deaths and build up towards final season,
This assumption led toward the possibility that the upcoming season is the final installment. "The Strain" Season 3 stayed true to its source material and has taken the series to the point in Book three. The final book in the series features a post-apocalyptic nuclear winter, and that will be the set up for "The Strain" Season 4.
Looking back to "The Strain" season 3, we see Kelly (Natalie Brown) meeting her doom in the hands of Ephraim. According to Carlton Cuse, Kelly is absolutely dead. However, Brown's character will still be present in the fourth season of FX's "The Strain." Perhaps through a flashback, Kelly will still have some screen time as per Cuse.
Kelly's death triggered Zack to detonate the atomic bomb, thus ending the third season with a huge bang. This event ultimately changed the setting for "The Strain" season 4. The living conditions have become harder as humans are now forced to live underground to avoid radiation.
Everything is topsy turvy now as even the strigoi are roaming the streets freely during the daytime. This has become possible because the explosion blocked the sun.
Meanwhile, the internet has gone on a hating spree toward Zack Goodweather for doing something as stupid as detonating a weapon of mass destruction. With the spotlight on Zack, many have started to realize that Zack may very well be The Master's next vessel.
Moreover, Zack is also being prepped to be the vessel in the books. Seeing that the series have been staying true to the books so far, the same is likely for the final season of the "The Strain."
