Usher's son was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit after a horrifying pool accident Monday afternoon in Atlanta.
5-year old Usher Raymond V, the singer's eldest son with ex Tameka Foster saw a toy stuck in the pool drain. He attempted to retrieve it but ended up getting his arm stuck. The child's aunt, Rena Odin, rushed to his aid but to no avail. The maid then tries to rescue him but that too was unsuccessful. They cried for help and the two subcontractors currently working in Usher's home dove in and finally saves the boy.
In an interview with NY Daily News, Odin says "My nephew was in the pool and he went in and I couldn't get him. I tried to get him. They got him and did CPR on him." One of the contractors managed to revive the boy. The paramedic on site is heard, telling the dispatcher that Usher's son "drowned but he's breathing now."
The singer wasn't home at the time of the incident.
As for Tameka, she received a call from one of Usher's staff members and rushed to the hospital. A source tells People, "She almost collapsed when she heard the news." Doctors say that Usher's son is set to make a full recovery and is now joined by his parents in the Atlanta hospital.
Just last July, Tameka's 11-year old son Kile Glover passed away after being hit by a jet ski in an inner tube in Lake Lanier, Georgia. Kile wasn't Usher's biological son but they were extremely close. "She's still not over Kile, and now this happens," the source says of Foster. "She is not going to leave his side now. ... We're all lifting him up in prayer." Usher and Tameka have another son, 4-year old Naviyd Ely Raymond.
According to a CBS affiliate, Foster filed for custody of their two children yesterday.
