Boston Celtics is keen on reorganizing their line-up right after starting the NBA 2016-2017 Season with a very bad performance. One of the options that are viable for fixing this dilemma is to finalize their deal with Philadelphia 76ers in acquiring their power forward/center Nerlens Noel.
Interestingly, acquiring Nerlens Noel for Boston Celtics' new line-up would not be a very difficult endeavor. The 76ers have previously eschewed the extension of Noel's contract with them. This means that their power forward /center player is an expendable character for their long-term goals.
The Celtics have been eying Nerlens Noel for a long time due to his impressive repertoire for defense and rebound. In addition to the story published by Sports Rageous, Noel makes a good tactical partner for their existing power forward/center Al Horford.
It would seem that the decision to acquire Nerlens Noel is further bolstered by the remarks of their point guard, Marcus Smart. In a report circulated by Green Street, Smart was vocal about the team's need to 'beef up their defense'.
Boston Celtics suffered a relatively embarrassing loss at the hands of Denver Nuggets during their Sunday, November 6 match. Celtics only scored 107 while the Nuggets won by 16-point lead in the final tally.
Given Marcus Smart's sentiments, it would seem that Celtics might finally get what they needed. Two power forward and center may stack up to their defense requirement.
The 76ers is also most likely to welcome Marcus Smart in their roster. As far as their strategic structure is concerned, they could gain an advantage by adding another point guard for their solid team.
NBA's proposed deadline for trading players will be in February of 2017. Just like Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls is also targeting an outsider in their next line-up. But unlike Nerlens Noel, celebrity center DeMarcus Cousins is currently shackled by Sacramento Kings for the long haul.
