Chad Stahelski reveals his newest blockbuster project to add to his list of successful films following his current development with "John Wick: Chapter 2." The movie titled "Triple Threat" will involve three of Asia's current martial arts superstars such as Tony Jaa, Tiger Chen, and Iko Uwais.
Unlike the "John Wick" sequel, Chad Stahelski will not be pairing with David Leitch in this upcoming "Triple Threat". According to the article published by Screen Crush, Stahelski will be co-directing with little-known Chinese television director Wang Xiaolie.
The Hollywood Reporter also reveals its brief straightforward storyline. Tiger Chen plays the lead role as a Chinese martial artist undertaking a sensitive solo mission to rescue his kidnapped ex-wife and son against Mexico's ruthless drug cartel.
Despite lacking details about the roles of Tony Jaa and Iko Uwais, fans are expecting some extreme mind-blowing choreography. Any avid martial arts enthusiast can easily see how potentially huge this movie is going to be.
The trio proved to be the most promising action stars slowly making a peripheral presence in mainstream Hollywood. Tony Jaa's highly-acclaimed "Ong Bak" and "The Protector" series earned him a slot in the latest "Fast & Furious blockbuster". Iko Uwais starred in a highly violent action series "Raid" and his latest Hollywood appearance was a deputy mercenary in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".
Chad Stahelski is definitely drawn to 'action stars with exceptional agility'. Curiously, Tiger Chen is a well-known martial arts instructor of Keanu Reeves. Both men have starred in the 2013 Chinese martial arts film "Man of Tai Chi" - with Chen as the protagonist and Reeves as the arch-villain.
Apparently, there is no official statement regarding the release date of "Triple Threat". Fans will simply have to hold their breaths for a while and wait for more updates to be revealed in the future.
