The "Painkiller Jane" movie just got a breath of new life as updates rolled that actress Jessica Chastain is tapped to be the movie's protagonist. This seems a good news to comic book fans who highly anticipate the revival of the stories they have crush on.
The "Painkiller Jane" movie is set to be an adaptation of the 1990's comic book series of the same name, IGN reported. Created by Joe Quesada and Jimmy Palmiotti, "Painkiller Jane" is a storof any underco
ver cop tasked to take down a large interconnected drug ring. But the plans fail and she gets captured and tortured in the process. Like most super heroes, she survives the encounter and walks away with new-found powers of regeneration and high tolerance for pain, thus the nickname Painkiller.
Jessica Chastain, the acclaimed actress in the war film "Zero Dark Thirty" and sci-fi hit "Interstellar," is set to be the protagonist to play Painkiller Jane and is also to be a producer for the film, according to a report in Deadline.
Back in 2014, news circulated that the infamous Soska sisters will be directing the "Painkiller Jane" film and it appears they are still on board with the project despite lack of recent updates. Jen and Sylvia Soska are more well-known for their work on the horror genre. Their career as directors resonated in the industry with their directed film "American Mary".
"American Mary" explores the grotesque and odd world of underground experimental surgery as the plot follows an American medical student falling deeper into the hidden world allured by the temptation of earning easy money.
Lenny Beckerman from Lotus Entertainment along with Stephen L'Heureux of Solipsist Films will produce the "Painkiller Jane" movie with Chastain.
The said movie was previously adapted into a 2005 TV-movie but was never done as a full-blown Hollywood movie until now. Meanwhile, "Painkiller Jane" movie has no release date yet.
