The upcoming "Vikings" season 5 is a must-watch as its midseason finale gives big impact on each character's fate. There were speculations that one of the leading stars who played the role of Lagertha, Katheryn Winnick would ended its character
In "Vikings" season 4 finale, the shieldmaiden had been brutally stabbed in the chest during their battle on Paris. It jumped into conclusion that Lagertha's fate ended on the said siege for she wasn't appeared in flash-forward nor mentioned her character.
In an exclusive interview of Michael Hirst with TVGuide, the Canadian Screen awardee revealed that Winnick's character as Lagertha would not come to an end. He also revealed that a feminist collective in New York warned him about Winnick's character.
"No," Hirst revealed. "There's a feminist collective in New York who wrote to me a couple years ago and they said, 'We don't' care how many of the male characters you kill off, but if you do anything to Lagertha, you're in trouble.' So I'm very careful about that warning.", he added.
On the other hand, Hirst said that Winnick's character in the historical drama television series, "Vikings" was much more important than those male characters excluding Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel). He claimed that Winnick's character was the soul of the show.
Besides, we can see that Lagertha's character has an amazing journey. From a farmer's wife, to being betrayed by her husband, to being with sadistic partner, to have its power, to lose her power taken by her men, to regain her power and became one of the courageous shieldmaiden of "Vikings."
