"Full House" star John Stamos posted a photo of himself beside Kaitlyn Dobrow, a young girl who contracted a bacterial infection that caused her to lose all her limbs through amputation. Stamos reiterated that he did not want any media attention. He said, "I'm ONLY doing this cause they asked. I said no press. but this story is a must read- plus me and Katie have a date to Disneyland."
The 19-year-old Dubrow contracted a deadly bacterial infection forcing her doctors to amputate her limbs so that they can save the young girl's life. In another post by Stamos on popular social networking site Twitter, he wrote: We're planning our trip to @disneyland!!!
Dubrow was rushed to a hospital in California last February and underwent a number of surgical procedures since then. "Kaitlynn has had an amazingly positive and courageous attitude throughout this illness and is determined to have a happy, fulfilling life, believing that God has an awesome plan for her future. She is my hero," Kathi, Kaitlyn's mother said.
According to a report by the Daily News last year, Dubrow went to the gym after work for a quick workout and woke up the next day nauseated. She also suffered from a splitting headache at the time, reports say.
Dubrow thought she had the flu and proceeded to take Advil but by afternoon, she was already in horrible pain and couldn't get out of bed.
"That's when my wife saw something breaking out on her skin," the father of the young woman Don Dobrow told reporters. Her mother then called an ambulance telling the doctor when they got to the hospital that her daughter may have meningitis. The diagnosis of Kaitlyn's medical transcriptionist mom was not far from the truth - Kaitlyn had come down with a very deadly type of meningococcemia.
Kathi Dubrow rarely leaves Kaitlyn's side while her daughter is still in the hospital, sources say.
