Another game is slated for our favorite speedy blue hedgehog Sonic. SEGA is reportedly working on a new game codenamed "Project Sonic 2017." It is in perfect timing with the 25th anniversary of the Sonic franchise.
With the new game fast approaching, SEGA also plans on including an all new character in the game, as well as a new villain. Who else other than Robotnik can wreak havoc for out freedom fighters we don't know. However, the new character is known to be another hedgehog!
According to Twinfinite, SEGA actually held an event to celebrate 25 years of Sonic speediness in the industry during the San Diego Comic-Con back in July. During the said event, a trailer for the upcoming "Project Sonic 2017" was also released. The said video contained elements that are familiar to those who have played previous Sonic games. Of course, there were also a few new aspects.
As per Takashi Iizuka, the head of the Sonic Team, the upcoming Sonic game is a stand-alone project and not a sequel. Moreover, it was also said that "Project Sonic" will be a hybrid between a classic Sonic and a modern Sonic as reported by Gamenguide.
Another recent Sonic game "Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice" Iizuka was asked a couple of questions regarding "Project sonic 2017." There, the Sonic Team head revealed that there will be a new hedgehog joining Sonic's ranks. A teaser reveals that aside from Sonic running around, there was another blue blur beside him. Hinting that this new companion may be another speedy hedgehog!
SEGA has yet to release a specific release date for the game. But if everything goes according as planned, it will come to our consoles by the Christmas of 2017 for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. We can only hope that SEGA dishes out the game arrives as fast as Sonic rushes to the nearest chilidog station! Stay tuned to Jobs & Hire for more updates about the upcoming Sonic game.
