Katherine Heigl TV Comeback: Will Her New Series Be As Good As Grey's Anatomy?

Katherine Heigl who starred in Grey's Anatomy is set to return to television. Sources say the actress will star in a new drama series and will produce it as well.

There are no reports yet on what the drama series will be about and what the title of the show will be but many are excited about the new show.

The actress played the role of Dr. Izzie Stevens when Grey's Anatomy began in March 2005 until January 2010 when she quit the show.

While still in the series that made the star a household name, she filmed movies such as 27 Dresses and Knocked Up. Reports say that she asked to go back to Grey's but that did not happen.

Her new project is still being written but USA Today that it will be a "serious contender for the 2014-15 season.

Heigl who got in the industry as a child model made her first appearance on film in the coming-of-age movie titled 'That Night'. She later joined Isabel Evans in 'Roswell'. Her role in Grey's Anatomy gave Katherine Heigl due recognition. She won the 2007 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series making Grey's the home for her break-out role.

Heigl, the youngest of four siblings was born in Washington, D.C. to Nancy and Paul Heigl. Heigl is of German and Irish descent. While the actress was born in D.C., the family moved to Connecticut where she and her siblings spent their childhood.

When she was 9-years-old, one of her aunt who visited the family in Connecticut took several photographs of the young girl and with her parents' permission, sent the photos to modeling agencies in New York City. This was the start of Heigl working for Wilhelmina Models. She later appeared in a TV spot for Cheerios.
