The time of the release of Apple’s new iPhone is upon us. The rumors about the iPhone 5S release date will be put to rest after over eleven months of anticipation and speculation. Apple plans to reveal at least one of the two new iPhones during the first half of September.
Yep, there’s more than one iPhone that’s coming out soon.
The iPhone 5 was released only last year (the anniversary of the release date is just over a month away), and now people are awaiting the official Apple iPhone 5S release date announcement. According to AllThingsD, Apple will disclose the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C on September 10, 2013. The International Digital Times reports that the 5C, a seventh-generation iPhone, is a cheaper polycarbonate model of the iPhone 5 (with which it looks virtually identical).
There are other expectations that come with the iPhone 5 release date. Some expect to see the launch of iOS 7, the newest version of Apple’s mobile operating system provided by a team with Apple VP Jonathan Ive as the head. Following Apple’s $356 million acquisition of Authentec last July, it’s possible that we will also see a form of fingerprint-scanning functionality in the iPhone 5S, but it’s still unclear if it will be provided for the 5C.
Problems may arise from the fingerprint-reading Home button that may be installed in the iPhone 5S. Such implementation may limit the company’s ability to mass-produce the new iPhone during this year, perhaps only allowing 3-4 million units according to DigiTimes.
More information concerning the iPhone 5S release date will follow as we come closer to the date.
