A Providence cop found the missing toddler, 2-year old Isaiah Perez wandering around a housing project alone and unharmed last Sunday night.
The child has triggered a long day amber alert search after being abducted by Daniel Rodriguez who broke into the missing toddler's home and killed 40-year old Evelyn Burgos and later goes on to shoot her 25-year old daughter Vanessa Perez. Their bodies were discovered 5:20 Sunday morning in their suburban house in Johnston, just 10 miles off Providence.
Deputy Chief Daniel Parillo has no further details as of now about the formerly missing toddler found in Providence, Rhode Island. "A patrol man found him while on patrol just walking on the sidewalk. We don't know he was dropped off, if he was left off there, we don't have any particulars at this time," he shares. Currently, Isaiah is under the care of child welfare officials.
Neighbors of the 2-year old express their shock as they consider their neighborhood family-friendly and filled with kids, with everyone knowing each other. "It's very scary. I'm just in shock," shares resident Jena Dimeo. "It's definitely nerve-racking," tells Monique Rodrigues who lives near the house where the homicide and kidnapping occurred.
Daniel Rodriguez was charged with two counts of murder plus kidnapping , burglary and related gun charges. Primary investigations led authorities to believe that there were two suspects involved. Malcolm Crowell, 22 was investigated by the police but was later on released after proving that her was the boyfriend of deceased Vanessa and was merely trying to help find the missing boy.
At the time of shooting, there were other two children in the house, one of which is Vanessa's daughter and the other, Evelyn's son. Both are now in the care Department of Children, Youth and Families but will be released to their family members.
Until now, authorities are unsure of the relationship between Isaiah and Daniel Rodriguez.
