The Pitman murder, which left a family of 3 dead in their Kenton Avenue house Tuesday morning, is speculated to also be a suicide case.
The bodies of 49-year old Francis Adolf, 44-year old Bonnie Adolf and their 6-year old son Francis Adolf, Jr. were discovered in their Jersey house after a call asking to check the well being of the family.
Russ Johnson III, Pitman's mayor is devastated upon hearing the news saying, "Shocked. Sad. This is my neighbourhood. This is my town," and continues to relay, "Just very sad for the family." He goes on to say that his son and 6-year old Francis were classmates." I don't know how you explain to a 7-year-old what could possibly happen. You've got to do your best as parents but I don't know how I can possibly explain it to my kid -- to any of those kids in that school," the mayor says. Little Francis was just about to turn 2nd grade at Memorial Elementary School in the Southern Jersey town.
Investigations now indicate that the Pitman murder could also be suicide, as handwritten letters and email messages by the 44-year old father and husband were found in their home. Police say that the writings indicate Francis expressing his intent to harm his family and himself.
Before the Pitman murder-suicide occurred, Bonnie and Frank who both worked in the same company, Virtua Health, which released a statement saying, "We are deeply saddened by this tragic news that has impacted co-workers and the entire Virtua organization. Our deepest sympathy and prayers go out to their family and friends during this very difficult time." As for the neighbours, they say that the family kept to themselves and they never had any reports of domestic violence at home.
The three bodies have been sent out for autopsy and authorities say it could take a while to determine the results and cause of the suburban incident.
