With a labor day domestic round trip ticket costing over $335, the next best thing is to pack your bags, fill up your tank and get ready for a road trip this weekend.
If you're new to this holiday adventure on the road, then don't fret. We've got all you need to know just before you head out to your next destination. So follow these hassle-free last minute labor day road trips and have a good one to remember.
1. Give your car an overhaul.
Consider your car as your partner in crime this weekend. You need to check if it's in tip top condition to lessen the risk of encountering roadside problems. Start with your tires and wiper fluid then move to your brakes and wheels. Ensure that your car is fit for a long drive or else, rent one out. If you have two vehicles, opt for the one that comes with better gas mileage.
2. Avoid the road rage aka rush hour.
The easiest excuse to not driving during labor day is the mad traffic ahead. If you're cutting costs but would very much like to take your loved ones to Las Vegas, the Big Apple or Philly, then strategize your time. The best advice is to be on the highway before 4pm or after 10pm. This way, you're at the best driving timing possible.
3. Make your passengers comfier- Bring only what you need!
A typical scenario is having a family car constantly packed with little things here and there. What you need to do first is remove everything you don't need and just bring the necessary ones for your road trip. Prioritize your car tools, baby necessities (if needed), just the right number of clothes, first aid kit and other appropriate things you should bring (whether you're going camping, swimming or fishing). This way, you're making your passengers a lot more comfortable, which is of course a big plus!
4. No GPS? Bring a map!
It adds more fun if you're willing to go a bit old school navigating your way to an unforgettable labor day weekend. So by all means, bring a map if your car isn't equipped with a GPS system. Who knows? Maybe you'll end up somewhere you never thought existed!
