While many would think that controversial singer Britney Spears is living the high roller life, many do not know that the singer shops in 99cents stores and loves her bit of bargain -not that she is struggling though because she is worth millions.
American recording artist Britney Spears first appeared on television as a child and later became a household name when she released her hit song, "Baby One More Time" in 1999. It was followed by more hits after that.
TMZ reports that Spears is thrifty because she's a bargain shopper but many are now asking where the $6.7 million out of the $7 million went -not that it's any of their business of course.
Because this question has been asked repeatedly by a number of folks online, Britney supports a number of charities and foundations. This includes the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes, the Britney Spears Foundation, Dress for Success, Elevate Hope Foundation, Keep A Child Alive, Kids Wish Network, Luke Neuhedel Foundation, Music Rising, Promises Foundation, Red Cross, St. Bernard Project, and United Way.
In 2005 alone, Britney Spears gave $590, 000 to charity. This included $350, 000 to relief programs for those affected by Hurricane Katrina and $175, 000 to Habitat for Humanity.
In a report by Celebitchy in 2005, Britney "gave over 12 times that amount that year" referring to how much Leonardo DiCaprio gave to charity.
While DiCaprio's decision to not give as much as Britney did in 2005 is not anyone's business, the star makes around $12 million per film while Spear hasn't worked for a very long time thanks to her meltdown. Spears is a usual target for bad publicity but thanks to the Britney Spears Foundation run by Nina Biggar, she can proudly say that she has helped lots of people.
