Area 51 has been the subject of top secret military operations but not anymore, as CIA now publicly acknowledges its existence, even releasing a map of it through the George Washington University's National Security Archive.
Reports reveal that the war-test site is just 125 miles northwest from Las Vegas, which can now be easily located even with Google Maps. CIA also tells us that Area 51 was just a mere testing site for the U-2 and OXCART aerial surveillance program, both of which gathered information on the Soviet Union during the Cold War. But now with the area's public exposure, the real question everyone is asking here is, where are the aliens?
"There is a section on the relationship between the U-2 program being responsible for UFO sightings," National Security Archive senior fellow Jeffrey Richelson states and continues, "But if people are looking for sections on dead aliens and inter-species contact, they'll be disappointed. It's just not there." This could be the explanation for the uncommon aerial sightings residents nearby keep on seeing throughout the years. Of course, this Area 51 revelation comes out as an utter disappointment to all UFO and alien fans the world over.
Jeffrey explains that the reports were released as per a 2005 request on the Freedom of Information Act. In this event of the location, now being publicly known, it looks like more information about Area 51 and its activities will easily be released to the public in the near future.
The place has been known as an iconic pop culture reference, especially because of 'otherworldly activities' believed to be happening in it. Now that the CIA is refuting any claims of UFO or alien-related operations in Area 51 and dubbing it as a mere test site, one could only hope that they're still leaving that part as classified information.
Not to worry. There's still Roswell anyway, right?
