The Minnesota Timberwolves is currently in this season's NBA trade rumors. There are rumors circling around the league that the franchise might be looking for a veteran player that could bring experience to the team. One possible deal is the Timberwolves getting Taj Gibson from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Nikola Pekovic.
In a report by Yahoo Sports, NBA trade rumors suggest that the Timberwolves seems willing to trade one of its key players to get a veteran player. The team is now 13th in the Western Conference with a 5-11 record and having one of the youngest rosters in the league wouldn't help either.
The franchise is currently rebuilding with Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins in the roster. These two players might be the face of the franchise in the long run but the team needs to win right now. Adding a veteran player to the lineup might help the team win more games.
According to the Inquisitr, trading Pekovic for Gibson might be the best decision for both teams. Both big men are a force to reckon with in the paint area. Gibson will be playing for his former coach Tom Thibodeau while Pekovic might get more minutes in Chicago.
Pekovic is averaging 4.5 PPG and 1.8 RPG in 6.52 MPG. If he goes to Chicago, he will have more minutes since the team needs a pure center who can post up and defend the rim. If he stays in Minnesota, he will just be a backup center behind his younger teammates.
Gibson would be a perfect fit for the Timberwolves. The team needs some veteran presence right now and he could definitely provide quality minutes for coach Thibodeau. Gibson is a beast on the defensive end and he could play at center with Towns at the power forward position.
These NBA trade rumors aren't far from happening. The trade deadline is just around the corner and fans might see these two teams pull the trigger.
