Thousands of One Direction fans are camping out at Leicester Square in anticipation of the boy band's first movie premier.
If you belong to the most successful boyband today, this number of fans will come as normal news for you. What's unusual here is that more and more people are coming, many of them from farther areas of the UK. Some of these teens are wearing masks of their idols and buying the band's merchandise which is being sold in the streets. To pass out their time, the crowd breaks into a medley of One Direction songs every once in a while.
The fans of Zayn, Louis, Niall, Harry, and Liam are waiting for the premier of their film, One Direction: This is Us.
The capacity of Leicester Square in London is up to 70,000 people and as of this writing, the square has reached its limit and more people are coming. The first 600 fans to arrive are lucky enough to get wrist bands which will enable them to stay within a close distance from the singer's of the hit song "What Makes You Beautiful."
The film was directed by Morgan Spurlock, the director of the famous fast food documentary, Super Size Me. The movie follows One Direction's life on tour and their splendid rise to fame and fortune.
The band members recently conducted a press conference where Liam Payne, the vocalist of the group, told the media that making the film was a "nerve-wracking" experience. Spurlock, who was also present, said that if the movie will become a hit, he and the band are seriously considering a follow-up movie.
One of the most notable people among the crowd is Ceri Evans, 31, who travelled from North Wales to London, with her son, Callum. Callum is diagnosed with a terminal disease affecting his heart.
When asked why the duo made such a long trip, Ceri said, "'Callum is obsessed with One Direction and he loves them. It's amazing to see the crowds here as there's nothing like this in North Wales. We have to come to London to see people like One Direction."
With the number of people who went to Leicester Square today, it is no doubt that a second film will be made.
