Emma Watson admitted being involved behind the designing of Belle's costumes including the signature yellow ball gown in her upcoming movie "Beauty And The Beast." The 26-year old actress said she was deeply into her character and wanted her yellow dress to be the most magical and whimsical of all.
In an interview with Movie Pilot, Emma Watson described how she fully embraced the making of her character. A huge part of which, is to assure the dress serves its purpose- to showcase the beauty of Belle without sacrificing her active character.
Costume designer Jaqueline Durran added that Watson perceives Belle as an active princess thus making the dress as comfortable as possible with no corset and lesser volume to allow more and better movements. Along with other elements from the original Disney movie, the yellow dress completes the story of how Belle and the Beast, played by Dan Stevens, fell in love with each other as they share a dance, Watson explained as she defined the scene to be a "total, blissful escapism".
Meanwhile, Emma Watson revealed an added backstory to the live-action adaptation of "Beauty And The Beast" for the fans to watch out for. Unlike in the original film, Belle will have other talents and skills that would make her more exceptional, said Watson in an interview with Entertainment Weekly as per International Business Times report.
This means that Belle will have something more aside from her love of books. This will also serve as a background as to why she could hardly fit in the community as well as support her character's disposition more.
Watson even dropped a scene where Belle will create a washing machine to do the laundry for her while she uses the time to indulge into reading. Thus, making her the inventor and not her father Maurice in the original plot. The movie i set to premiere on March 17, 2017.
