Meryl Streep, Benedict Cumberbatch, Julia Roberts, and Hugh Jackman are just four big names from the pool of Hollywood stars who will be attending the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in Canada this September - exciting news from the TIFF's press release stated.
The event will be showcasing 288 features all in all, 270 of which are either North American, world, or international premieres. All of the featured films will be simultaneously screened in 34 different screens.
Aside from presenting the line-up of films that will be featured in the event, the organizers of the 38th annual TIFF has officially announced the names of the Stars, who will be joining this year.
"Meryl Streep, never met the woman, she hasn't been to the festival in a long time and she's terrific in 'August: Osage County.' I can't wait to meet her," Festival Artistic Director Cameron Bailey said when asked who he was eager to see during the event. "[S]he hasn't been to the festival in a long time and she's terrific in August: Osage County."
Bailey said that he is also expecting to see Julia Roberts, who starred in the same feature film as Streep, adding that it is quite rare to find two big Hollywood actresses perform in the same movie.
Meryl Streep turned 64 in June, and she is still recognized as one of the proactive leading stars of her generation and even of all time. Source said that while most actresses find it hard to get leading roles after reaching age 50, Streep proves to be that great exception.
Streep has received three Oscar awards in the past; her most recent was for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in 'The Iron Lady' in 2011.
Alongside this, rumors about the battle between Meryl Streep and Oprah Winfrey for a 2014 best supporting role Oscar award surfaced lately. Streep is said to have been nominated for her role in 'August: Osage County' while Winfrey, for her role in 'The Butler.'
Yet the speculations seem to be a complete hoax, for Streep was actually portraying the lead role in the feature film with Julia Roberts. Additionally, other actors starred in the said feature film are Benedict Cumberbatch, Ewan McGregor, Abigail Breslin, and Dermont Mulroney.
