Dolly Parton, the creator and imaginer of Dollywood, is allegedly thanking God for working in mysterious ways.
She is claiming that God didn’t make her dream of Nashville snow and water park come true because a more significant project was actually in the works – a $300 million, 10-year expansion to her Dollywod Pigeon Forge, Tennessee theme park.
The expansion will include the FireChaser Express, a roller coaster that is set to open in 2014. Also, a 300-room, 100-acre DreamMore Resort will also be seem by 2015 – a dream Parton has envisioned 28 years ago.
According to Parton, things actually worked out for the better, “God does have his ways.”
The ground will be divided on the DreamMore complex and will be situated adjacent to Dollywood Splash Country. In as little as two years, visitors to the resort will see a hotel lobby with a three-storey window framing Mount LeConte. Chair porches will also be seen in the exterior.
The resort will be based on Dolly Parton’s image of being a down-home country girl that loves being at home who also loves class and glamour. It will essentially be a dollhouse. More appropriately, “Dolly’s dollhouse.”
The new resort will be built on Dollywood land with additional 20 acres of newly purchased lot. After the completion of the projects, Parton says Dollywood has still a lot of room to grow. Guests can expect more shows and rides as well as bigger attractions.
Parton says that the timing of the projects `felt great.’ Come 2015 when the resort and the new roller coaster are completed, Dollywood would be celebrating its 30th anniversary. It is a present Dolly Parton says “couldn’t have (been) nicer.”
Craig Ross, the president of Dollywood Co., states that the company will have spent more money on the theme park in the coming decade more than it ever did since it opened in 1986.
