"Koe No Katachi" or "A Silent Voice" is being dubbed now as the next "Your Name" movie. In the recent time, the newest Japanese animated film only airs locally, yet it's already close behind the country's list of highest grossing films especially the 3rd which is Makoto Shinkai's. Moreover, the thought of possible dethroning of Mitsuha & Taki's movie along the way is hovering in everyone's mind.
"Makoto Shinkai's "Your Name" Japanese animated movie swept everyone in their feet, indeed it's already one of the biggest ever films around the world." Upon Shinkai's movie release many people were instantly turned into avid followers, now China and US are currently experiencing the anime's triumph as well.
According to Animation Magazine, "Your Name" is Japan's highest-grossing film of 2016 with a box office take of more than $173 million - surpassing the last two Hayao Miyazaki features." It is compared to "A Silent Voice" $20.1 million domestic gross.
Taking note the difference, critics foresaw the possibility of "A Silent Voice" because the film been able to get that much in a local premiere only. There is a big chance that it will be as big as Shinkai's "Your Name" when it penetrates the international market.
iTech Post shares "A Silent Voice" depiction of Shoya Ishida and Shoko Nishimiya friendship story, the first is deaf while the other is troublesome. The descriptions may seem a bit off, but there lies the emotional ride the viewers will lead on.
In contrast, "Your Name" and this film whirls on the same theme of friendship, mistake, and love. This type of things is very particular for the younger generations, a timely inspiration for their daily struggles.
In all, "Your Name" and "A Silent Voice" can be comparable to each other, yet it's too early to see how the latter can follow Shinkai's. So, to further understand both, make sure to see them!
