Chris Evans has never been afraid to speak his mind. The actor recently talked about his stand on issues regarding the human rights, women's rights, and his support to his gay brother, Scott Evans. The Captain America actor revealed that he never felt a backlash in response to his stand.
Speaking to The Fix, Chris Evans states the importance of knowing the current situation the American people is "navigating as a society." The 35 year old added that America is in "tricky times right now" after the United States elected Donald Trump as president.
President Donald Trump stirred the hornet's nest when after winning the Presidency in the recent US election. According to a report from CNN, although Trump purportedly supports the LGBT community, Trump's platform is anything but LGBT friendly. Add this to the many times Trump is reported sneering at women and human rights in general.
As for Evans, the actor suggests that the key is to "encourage and cultivate compassion and understanding." Evans further highlighted the importance of understanding, saying that "it is important to experience anything different from what you know."
That's quite a perspective especially from someone whose career may have been put at risk for standing up for his gay brother, Scott, and the LGBT community in general. Evans can be considered lucky for having escaped criticism and bashing from people who have anti-LGBT stance. According to Evans, he has never felt any "backlash or friction" due to the stance he have taken in support of his brother or "any other human rights."
The hunk actor explains that he grew up with his gay brother and sisters that is why he feels so strongly about human and women's rights. Evans also revealed that growing up in a progressive community and his experiences in theatre helped him have a better understanding of what the LGBT community have to face every day of their lives.
With his advocacy, Evans would continue supporting his gay brother and promote equal rights for the LGBT community and women. Evans, currently filming "Avengers: Infinity Wars," hopes for continued support from his fans. Chris Evans is set to appear in the 2017 movie "Gifted" and rumored to be appearing in his last "Captain America" movie, also to be released in 2017.
