According to the source, one of the possible reasons for the trade is because Bulls is planning to improve its frontline. However, some say it has something to do with Atlanta Hawks' current record.
The Hawks is currently holding an upsetting record of 10-12, a clear losing streak since they started the game. This is exactly the reason that most NBA fans are pointing out following the trade rumors. It is said that Hawks is now trying to make changes in its starting lineup, as per the report by the Atlanta Journal. In the report, Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer was asked if they are looking at possible lineup changes and his response was "We'll look at everything." This statement from the 47-year old coach ignited the trade rumor between Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls.
In a report by HNGN, both the Hawks and Bulls are being proposed with a trade deal involving Paul Millsap, Nikola Mirotic, and Denzel Valentine. According to the source, Millsap will be added to the Bulls' lineup in exchange for Mirotic and Valentine. Millsap's existence in Chicago Bulls will give the said team a significant advantage given his average record of 16.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists this season.
However, the source added that the trade might not be possible at all because of issues involving the NBA trade rules and salary cap restrictions. It said that with the current trade plan, Millsap's current salary will cause Bulls' salary cap to go overboard - a clear violation of the salary cap restriction. HNGN said that the only possible way to go on with the Hawks-Bulls trade is to find players whose combined salary matches Millsap's.
