Former 'Bachelor'contestant Gia Allemand's remains have finally been put to rest in a funeral service held at Trinity Grace Church in Manhattan on August, 22, Thursday.
The 29-year-old, who died a little too soon, had reportedly tried to commit suicide last Monday following an argument with boyfriend NBA player Ryan Anderson. She passed away two days later when life support had been completely removed.
On August 12, the Queens-born beauty had quarreled with Anderson for suspicion that he was cheating on her. A New Orleans police report stated that by the time her boyfriend has dropped her off at her apartment, she uttered "I love you," only to be answered with "I don't love you anymore" after a brief silence.
Minutes later, she decided to commit suicide inside her apartment by wrapping a vacuum cleaner cord around her neck. Though she was promptly rushed to the hospital, attending doctors declared her brain-dead.
Her life support was taken off two days later after her devastated family has agreed to it.
At the funeral, the over 150 attendees let out soft sobs at the sight of the hearse that was carrying Gia Allemand's coffin, and continued to weep the entire service through.
The former "Bachelor" contestant's representative told the media that the funeral was open to all "with the intention to welcome family and friends from near and far."
People magazine reports that those who were in attendance included: Allemand's boyfriend, her mother, Donna Micheletti, and father, Eugene Allemand.
An eyewitness shared that Allemand's mother began to shed tears while entering the Chapel at Trinity Grace Church in Chelsea. Gia had reportedly willed all her possessions to her mother through a suicide note she left.
On the other hand, Gia Allemand's bereft father was seen expressionless and quiet throughout the 40-minute service, and even when the 'Amazing Grace' hymn was being played.
Two of Gia's closest friends offered eulogies during the ceremony; one of them pointed out the former 'Bachelor' contestant's inclination to generously give to other people.
The service program read, "The family of Gia Allemand wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to all those, near and far, who have extended words of encouragement and support during this time of incredible loss."
Gia Allemand was catapulted to the lime light after joining the 14th season of 'The Bachelor' entitled "The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love."
