With over 90,000 movie fanatics who supported the film, "King of Prism by Pretty Rhythm" is now hailed as the longest running Japanese anime film in Korean theatres. The hit movie has been running in cinemas in South Korean for over a hundred days since it was first released in the country last August 11.
"King of Prism by Pretty Rhythm's" official website has expressed the anime film producers' and Director Masakazu Hishida's deepest gratitude as the movie was expectedly screened for over 100 days in cinemas in Korea. The record achieved by "King of Prism by PrettyRhythm", which had an advance screening in Korea on August 4, beats the record of "Love Live! The School Idol Movie" last 2015 that was featured in theatres in Korea for more than a hundred days.
In an interview with The Asahi Shimbun, Director Hishida said that he and the team did not ever imagined that the anime film would run that long in South Korea. He added that he will always be thankful for the opportunity to feature the movie in a foreign country for such a long period of time. Hishida directed the said anime movie at Tatsunoko Production with its script being written by Jou Aoba who is also the creator of the storyboard of "Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream"
According to Crunchyroll, "King of Prism by Pretty Rhythm" was released last January 9 in theatres in Japan and has been shown for 238 days. Reports also show that the anime film has sold over 460,000 theater ticjets and has earned approximately 7.8 million US dollars (equivalent to 800 million yen) only for eight straight months.
Initially launched in the TV anime entitled "Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live", the boyband called "Over the Rainbow" is the focus of the said anime movie. "King of Prism by Pretty Rhythm" is a spin-off of the TV anime series "Pretty Rhythm" which is about fashion and dancing themed game intended for teenagers.
