PHILADELPHIA - Kate Gosselin filed a lawsuit, suing ex-husband Jon Gosselin for his alleged Computer Fraud and Abuse Act violations, in Pennsylvania District Court, on Monday.
Kate claimed that Jon intentionally stole her hard drive, hacked her phone and email contact list from her computer, for his personal use of including pertinent data of the former realty TV star into his tell-all book.
According to the federal lawsuit, Jon Gosselin had accessed Kate's private information for his book titled "Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World."
Legal documents stated that Jon, aside from hacking Kate's phone, hard drive, and email contact list, also hacked the realty star's bank accounts. He also added that Jon allegedly shared all the materials and data to tabloid reporter Robert Hoffman, his friend and business partner.
Earlier reports stated that Jon's 2012 book was removed from the Amazon market two days after its release, due to its illegally obtained content.
"Jon violated a federal anti-hacking statute in order to publish salacious, scandalous and defamatory information about Kate," Kate Gosselins's lawyer Jordan Rushie said. "It's damaged her reputation."
Kate and Jon previously starred in 'Jon & Kate plus 8,' - later changed to 'Kate plus 8' - where they detailed their relationship before they have gone separate ways in 2009 and divorced later on. The show focused more on their life with their twins and sextuplets.
Kate now manages a coupon website, and is residing in Sinking Spring while Jon is working in the information technology, and is living nearby Wyomissing.
Prior to the couple's controversial lawsuit, they had faced countless of issues in the past, including: their alleged violation of the child labor laws for their children's TV appearances, Kate's battle against a Pennsylvania marriage therapist, Jon's over-speeding and his violations against TLC network for his unsolicited appearances in other shows while still bounded by a contract.
