Selena Gomez leads the list of celebrities with the most followed account in Instagram this year. This is the second time that the "Same Old Love" singer and Justin Bieber's ex-girlfriend landed the spot. Her first was last year.
In an annual ranking released by Instagram Thursday, Selena dominated the social networking site with 103 million followers. Her bestie Taylor Swift came second with 10 million difference, 93.9 million.
Following Taylor Swift is Ariana Grande and Beyonce with 89.6 and 88.9, respectively Kim Kardashan dropped three spots landing to fifth this year from second last year.
Selena Gomez. 24, also have the most-liked photo and video posted by a celebrity in Instagram. Her name was also the most-mentioned artist on the photo and video sharing network.
This might be surprising for the young superstar as she detached herself from the world few months ago. After diagnosed with Lupus, Gomez's condition became complicated as the disease is known to cause side effects like anxiety, depression and panic attacks. It was no secret that Selena is not in her best condition emotionally while she is receiving medical attention. In 2014, Jobs & Hire even reported that there were hoax news in Hollywood about the singer's death while receiving treatment for lupus.
However, according to News Everyday, Gomez medical condition did not stop her fans from being connected to her though liking her posts in Instagram. In fact, Selena had seven videos and eight photos that are included in ten most popular videos and photos of celebrities.
Other celebrities who made it to the list include Kylie and Kendall Jenner (19.5 million and 68.9 million, respectively). The only two men in the top ten were football superhero Cristiano Ronaldo (82.3 million) and Dwayne Johnson (71 million).
Instagram is owned by social networking giant Facebook and is focused to be the platform for sharing pictures and videos. It is estimated that over 500 million are using Instagram around the world.
