Macworld reported that concerns about faulty GPUs and batteries of the MacBook Pros are being discussed online on forums like MacRumors, Reddit, and Apple Support. Potential consumer lawsuits could be brewing if MacBook Pros continue to be defective, and buyers become more and more discontent with their laptops.
Ubergizmo reported that the system of some 15-inch MacBook Pros incorrectly reports the GPU that it has. The glitch is spreading confusion among MacBook Pros buyers, who are being led to believe that their MacBook Pros have been upgraded. Ubergizmo reported that there were some rumors that Apple purposely displayed MacBook Pros with higher specifications in their retail stores to sell more products.
A source denied the rumors that the MacBook Pros displays are better than what were being sold. AppleInsider reported that there was an issue in the communication between the System Information developer team and the hardware team that worked on creating the MacBook Pros.
No further information has been released about the MacBook Pros glitches. Apple has also not released an official statement about the issue. However, Macrumors reported that Apple software engineering chief Craig Federighi said in an unverified email that Apple had rolled out a fix in the latest macOS Sierra 10.12.2 beta. If you are one of the buyers of the MacBook Pros affected, better have your laptop checked.
