James Spader will play Ultron and battle against the Avengers heroes in the sequel to the superhero blockbuster movie 'Avengers: Age of Ultron,' Marvel Studios announced on Thursday.
James Spader has been casted as the powerful robotic villain, who will bring down the superhero team, and make them suffer really hard than what their advanced and innate super powers can take. The 53-year-old actor will not only do the voiceover for the Marvel villain but will actually portray him in the flesh since director Joss Whedon had already confimed that the sequel will most definitely stray from the original story presented in the comicbooks, a Yahoo! news stated.
In recent interviews, Wheddon had said that the 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' will not dwell on the past of Ultron or how he came to be as opposed to the comicbook version where Ultron was described to be the creation of Ant-Man or Hank Pym. Whedon added that the scientist will not make even the slightest appearance on the film.
"I knew right away what I wanted to do with him," Joss Whedon said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Then, he began to explain why he chose James Spader for the role, "He's always trying to destroy the Avengers, goddamn it, he's got a bee in his bonnet. He's not a happy guy, which means he's an interesting guy. He's got pain. And the way that manifests is not going to be standard robot stuff. So we'll take away some of those powers because at some point everybody becomes magic and I already have someone (a new character, the Scarlet Witch) who's a witch."
"As a character I love him," Whedon said. "...because he's so pissed off."
Yahoo! stated that this will be James Spader's first high profile role after acting mostly for independent movies.
According to NY Daily news, Ultron will make up for Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston) who will not be returning in the sequel.
'Avengers: Age of Ultron' will hit theaters worldwide staring Mar 1, 2015. Big stars who will still be appearing in this installment include: Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Scarlet Johansson.
"Marvel's The Avengers" is considered as the third largest grossing film of all time next to 'Titanic' and 'Avatar.' It earned $1.5 billion worldwide upon its debut in 2012.
