#DumpStarWars Hashtag Used In Defiance Of 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's' Racially Diverse Cast, Anti-Trump Sentiments

Right-wing protesters are fighting against the legendary sci-fi franchise "Star Wars" and its new film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story." Writer Chris Weitz is blamed for being "anti-white" by including characters of different ethnicities and the theme is clearly "anti-Trump" following the victory of US President-Elect Donald Trump.

According to The Independent, US supporters of its right-wing politics pointed out that "Rogue One" writer Chris Weitz had an "anti-white agenda" pointing to Weitz and other "Rogue One" cast members' condemning actions leading to "Islamophobic, racist, misogynistic and anti-Semitic incidents of harrassment" in the country through Twitter.

Non-supporters of right-wing politics have hijacked the hashtag with non-serious responses. Some users, such as a specific Andrew Idell, said, "The'we don't need safe spaces' party has just boycotted a play, a cereal brand and a movie for being mean." Some used the hashtag to point out that Trump supporters disliked Hollywood's intervention into politics but ironically voted for a reality TV star as a US President.

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Movie" has been making the biggest buzz in social media due to certain rumors. Even though producers have said that the story does not coincide with the "Episodes," fan rumors have circulated that "Rogue One" is a story between "Episode III" - and "Episode IV: A New Hope."

Observers speculate that "Rogue One" may surpass "Episode VII" of 2015 by earning a projected $280m-$350m in its global opening. According to Deadline, it may as well defeat DC's "Batman V Superman" that raked in $422.5m and Marvel's "Captain America: Civil war" that earned $379.5m during its opening in the global box office.

"Star Wars" is ever expanding after Disney's purchase of the franchise and original producer Lucasfilm for $4billion. After "Rogue One," Disney and Lucasfilm is planning another stand-alone movie featuring Han Solo's earlier expeditions with a release dated on May 25, 2018 -- the same year "Star Wars: Episode VIII" is expected to show.
